Simply Darling ~ Easter Beauty

There was no Easter Bunny, but there was tons of Easter Beauty!!
Brother and Sister donned coordinating ensembles in
Blues and Polka Dots!!!

Resurrection Sunday is always one of my favorite days of the year to dress them.
With the help of the Lord, we celebrated in style!
Rather than go with the traditional array of pastels and ruffles,
I went much more unconventional (for me!) this year. Straighter lines and deep/navy blue
paired with some contrasting textures (his linen suit w/ the velour hat)
- an apropos reflection of this nice wintery spring we're having!

I think this is how he felt about taking these pictures before getting his Easter Basket -
Not Impressed! lol

Now, behold! A slightly happier, more pleasant child!

See. A much happier child. Um, yeah.

March 31st. Spring is here. But the weather didn't get the memo!! It's been so chilly here lately that I knew our usual short sleeved cardigans over frilly summer dresses with ruffled  socks were not going to work at all if I expected to take pictures outside.
So what's a momma to do?
Have the little one rock a fabulous dress with an even more fabulous matching long sleeve coat!!!

#FLOTUS inauguration style! #ThomBrowne Baby!

For those of you who followed my tumblr account, you know how much I adore ribbons for the hair, especially gross grain ribbons. This was a rare occasion that I went with satin ribbons.
What I liked about them:

~To keep ribbons from fraying, it's necessary to lightly burn the ends. To my surprise, these white satin ribbons burned and sealed far better than my usual white gross grain ribbons, not leaving as much of the browning at the tip that can be tricky to avoid when sealing white gross grain.

~ They gave a nice soft appearance that complimented the feminine tones of the ensemble.

~ Though I went with the white, I have found these ribbons to have a far wider color selection available.

~They are certainly cheaper and more accessible in retail than gross grain ribbon. (Unfortunately, in general, they tend to look cheaper, too, which is why I don't generally gravitate toward them. Thankfully, they looked far better than I expected!)

Navy Bow Tie with Polka Dots: Made by yours truly - ME!!

Blue Newsboy Hat: Target

Shirt: The Children's Place

Brown Leather Shoes: Tommy Hilfiger (bought @ one of my favorite resale shops for children - Once Upon a Child!!)

Linen Suit: Once Upon a Child (Whoop! Whoop!)

I love this linen suit! :-D

I love it so much that I bought it twice! Haha! Last year, God
blessed me to find and buy this same exact suit @ my fave
resale shop! Then God did it again this year - the same suit in the next size in plenty of time for this Easter!!!
What are the odds of that?!?!? AWESOME!

White Gloves and White Patent Leather Shoes
For me, nothing says Easter ensemble like
{white} gloves and patent leather shoes!!
(Usually, I'd throw "hat" in that list, and I had one, too, but her hair was just too cute to cover this year!!)

Happy Resurrection Day!
